The triptych depicts a continuous story. Right: the warrior (「佐々木桂之助国香」) defends the old woman (「嘉門母」) from a bear on a snowy mountain. Center: The warrior leaves home and parts with his wife. Left: Through the branches and the window, indoors the man (梅津嘉門) looks at a mirror with his wife.
