Note:
Manuscript map. Dated by Bridgeport (1821 incorporation of city). Howard Welsh has two sheets of notes attempting to date this map by the appearance of the Southwick "notch" of 1805 (and noting that Thompson did not identify the appearance of the notch in 1805 as a map dating device). However, we think that Thompson's approach of the appearance of towns is best here. Who was Lucy Barker? The map is very well done. Edged in golden tan silk, with black top and bottom rollers. Outline color by county.
