Colorful, highly detailed (almost to the point of being unreadable) map of California with inset maps of Yosemite Valley and San Joaquin Valley (both schematic and clear) plus a 31 page index. The advertisement for Punnett Brothers' maps after the last page of the index mentions the "New Map of Alaska" which may verify a date for that map of at least 1897 - see our #4794. Covers are 17x12 tan card board, with title "1897 Indexed Map-Guide Of California B.H.C. Sandy 316 Battery Street, San Francisco". Relief shown by hachures.
