Note:
This is the same map as the map that appears in Mitchell's 1831 reissue of Finley's 1826 American Atlas. It is dated 1831 under the title - changes from the 1826 Finley issue include the appearance of Chicago, reduction of Arkansas, and the elimination of "Territory" in the title of Michigan. W. Heckrotte has a copy without the 1831 date under the title and with Mitchell's name in slightly different print. It is probably an earlier state. Full color map folded into brown leather covers 15.5x9 with "U. States" and a decorative border in gilt. Prime meridians are Washington D.C. and Greenwich. Relief shown by hachures.
