First edition. This is a lithographic printing of the first edition engraved map - it has the name of the noted lithographer, J.H. Bufford, below the title. This is one of the most attractive maps of the White Mountains issued in the 1850's - it has nine vignettes of buildings and scenery. Map is black and white, folded into stamped dark brown cloth covers 14.5x9.5 with "New Map Of The White Mountains." in gilt. Relief shown by hachures.
