This map is likely a reduction of the base drawings from Arrowsmith's larger Map of England at a scale of 1 inch to 3 miles, first published in 1815. An interesting feature of this map is the inclusion of road distances from eight different points in London to all major cities and towns in England and Wales. Arrowsmith includes numbers in the various counties which are not explained in the map legend. Additions and corrections were made almost every year from the maps first issue in 1813 to this edition of 1820. Arrowsmith did similar scale maps of Scotland, 1807 (see our 6702.000) and Ireland, 1811 (see our 6708.000). Full color, dissected and mounted on linen.
