Combination Atlas Map Of Will County Illinois. Compiled, Drawn and Published From Personal Examinations and Surveys By Thompson Bro's & Burr. Elgin, Ills. 1873. Duval & Hunter Pr. Phila. N. Friend, Engr. Philad. C.L. Smith, Del.
Pub Reference:
P12555; Ristow p. 415.
Pub Note:
This may be the largest of the county atlases produced in the 1870's. It has more views than any county atlas we have seen, indicating that the county was prosperous enough for a large number of subscribers to pay for views. In the "How 'Tis Done" book, the Will County Atlas is listed as the largest income producer ($38,000) if any of the fifteen Illinois county atlases surveyed. The Thompson Bro's & Burr firm published only one other county atlas, of Du Page County, Illinois, in 1874. With the large (109x84) folding map of Joliet not found in all copies. Full color. Vegetation shown.
