Authors and titles on a map of the United States with vignettes of local scenes corresponding to the books. Portraits of 10 noteworthy authors across the top. Amy Jones was a painter and illustrator. Born in Buffalo, she studied at the Pratt Institute Art School in Brooklyn. In the 1930s, she worked in the WPA artists program, painting murals in post offices. A member of the Society of Illustrators, she worked as an advertising, magazine and book illustrator for Standard Oil of New Jersey, Woman's Day magazine, and the publishing houses Random House, Thomas Y. Crowell, and World Publishing. Her works are in the collections of the Chrysler Museum, the Hudson River Museum, the United States Air Force Museum and the Pepsi Cola corporate collection.
