Second note below the island of Lombock states, "Volcano of Tumbora in Sumbawa Island. A tremendous eruption of this Vol. exceeding any thing (sic) on record of the same nature, took place, April 1815...(240 miles West of the Vol.) ashes fell to the depth of 8 inches."
