Description
[from original correspondence list] Phil Linhares was in Chicago and saw some Westermanns in Harlan’s Antiques. He (Reisman) got the painting. “It’s a painting of a beach scene—a Picasso-Mooresque reclining figure on a brown beach with a strip of green water and a very dark blue sky. There’s a small sailboat aground and leaning into the picture from the right. The frame (a strip frame) is trimmed with rope and carved or perforated into the frame are images which include a crab, stars, a triton, and, naturally an anchor! On the bottom of the frame is carved ‘HCW 54.’”
